I have tourettes. I deal with it.

Hey every one. I felt like i wanted to make a difference in the cruel cruel world so here I go. First off i want to educate DA about this thing called tourettes because i hope you guys will spread around the info to others. i hope that you will also not judge people annymore until you know them. (not that you do that heh).

Ok to the educational part. Tourettes is a nurological disorder( a disfunction of the brain).
what is known about this "thing"
. It can not be cured
. It can be subdued with medication. (Man i wish that was the case for me! XD)
. It can not kill you
. It is not contagious
. There are thousands of different symptomes and cases
. It's NOT fun!
. It can subside with age
Now to explain a little about it and my experiance with it.
Tourettes is difficult indeed and very little is known to help it. There are thing called "TICS" that are what Tourettes IS. (Note: I will be referring to tourettes as TS now) Tics can consist of gestures, vocals, twiching you name it. It is involentary which means it can not be stopped from happening. When and if you can controll it it takes up alot lot of enerygy like you just did ten jumping jacks. This happens each time you surpress them. But when you do surpress it they will come back later more violent and worse than before. The reason for this is that the part of the brain where ts is connects to your nervous system. It's like your a puppet. to try and stop the tics is like telling someone not to breath. It becomes a regular bodily function. It tough to have a good social life and people start to get annoyed after a while. But it does have it's up sides.



here is somthing to do if you want to feel ts first hand.

1. Pic a person in a group of your friends
2. Pic a letter let's say "P"
3. Every time the chosen person says p you have to yell and hop on one foot.
Do this until you become exhausted and PO'd!
